0011Brief history of the organizationCommunity Movement for Education (COME) is a south Odisha based NGO formed in the year 2007 under inspiration and leadership of ms Bimala Bardhan with several (20) years of experience in the development sector for the socio-economic and political empowerment of tribals and dalits who have been the most marginalized communities in the country in terms of socio-cultural political and economic aspects. The organization is registered under Trust Deed registration Act as well as under FCRA.
As a women led organization COME in the initial stage started working in just 2 GP of Gudari block of Rayagada District on women empowerment by organizing tribal and dalit women into self help group to promote their participation in socio, economic and political aspect of community life. Rayagada is one among the most backward districts in India. Over the years COME has expanded its geographical spread and currently has its active presence in 150 villages spread over 15 GP of Gudari Padmapurand Rayagada blocks of Rayagada district in Odisha.
